Customer Review: Professional Flooring Installation with Attention to Detail

Recently, we completed a flooring project where the customer wanted to transform their home with new flooring throughout the main living areas, kitchen and hallway.
The finished result looks fantastic, but there was an important detail behind the installation that is worth highlighting.
Dealing With the Existing Floor
Once the existing flooring had been removed, we discovered that there was already a noticeable gap between the existing floor level and the bottom of the skirting boards.
This is something that can happen when replacing an older floor with a different type of flooring. Once the existing flooring was removed and the new floor preparation was carried out, it became clear that simply installing the new flooring would still leave a visible gap underneath the skirting.
One option would have been to remove and reposition the skirting boards. However, this would have meant bringing in a carpenter and added considerably more cost to the project for the customer.
Instead, we looked for a practical way of achieving a clean, professional finish without unnecessary additional work.
A Simple Solution for a Better Finish
After the floor had been properly prepared and the latex screed had been applied, the new flooring was installed.
There was still a small visible gap between the finished flooring and the skirting boards in places.
Rather than unnecessarily removing all the skirting boards, we used decorators' caulk to carefully fill and finish the gap.
Once completed, this created a much cleaner transition between the skirting and the new floor, giving the appearance of the flooring running neatly and continuously into the edge of the room.
It's a relatively small detail, but it's exactly the sort of thing that can make a big difference to the overall appearance of a flooring installation.
The Finished Result
The transformation was significant.
The old flooring was removed, the floor was properly prepared, and the new wood-effect flooring was professionally installed throughout the relevant areas.
The finished flooring gives the rooms a warmer, more modern appearance while also creating a much more continuous look between the different areas of the home.
The customer was delighted with the result and, importantly, we were able to achieve the finish they wanted without adding the unnecessary cost of removing and replacing the existing skirting boards.
