Complete Downstairs LVT Flooring Transformation in Chalford, Stroud
Complete Downstairs LVT Flooring Transformation in Chalford, Stroud
A complete downstairs flooring transformation, from floor preparation to professionally fitted LVT
We recently completed a full downstairs flooring transformation for a customer in Chalford, near Stroud, installing new LVT throughout the main living areas of the home.
The project covered the lounge, dining room, hallway, kitchen, utility room and WC, creating one continuous, modern flooring finish that flows naturally from one area to another.
While the finished floor is what catches the eye, a large part of this project was actually the preparation underneath it.
The importance of proper floor preparation
Before LVT can be installed, the existing floor needs to be suitable for the chosen flooring.
In this property, the existing surface required preparation before we could install the new LVT. We started by thoroughly preparing the existing floor and applying a suitable primer.
Once the primer was ready, we installed a latex screed throughout the required areas.
This created a much smoother and more consistent surface, helping to provide the correct base for the LVT installation.

From preparation to the finished floor
Once the latex screed had cured and the floor was ready, we returned to begin the LVT installation.
The customer chose a natural wood-effect LVT, which works particularly well across a large downstairs area.
Rather than having different flooring in the lounge, hallway and kitchen, the LVT provides a consistent look throughout the downstairs, helping the individual rooms feel much more connected.
The finished flooring runs through:
Lounge
Dining room
Hallway
Kitchen
Utility room
WC
The wood-effect design gives the appearance of a traditional timber floor while providing a practical flooring solution for areas that experience plenty of everyday use.
A practical choice for a busy home
One of the advantages of using LVT throughout downstairs is its versatility.
The same flooring can be used through living areas and higher-traffic spaces such as hallways and kitchens, giving the property a consistent appearance without compromising on practicality.
It's particularly effective in areas such as kitchens and utility rooms where flooring needs to cope with everyday spills, dirt and general household traffic.
The finished result is a warm, modern look that complements the existing décor beautifully.
Attention to the finishing details
As with every flooring installation, we paid particular attention to the areas around doorways, skirting boards, corners and transitions between rooms.
Installing LVT across several connected rooms means there are plenty of areas where accurate measuring and careful cutting make a difference to the final appearance.
Taking the time to get these details right helps create the clean, professional finish that you can see in the photographs.
The finished result
The transformation is a great example of why good floor preparation should never be overlooked.
The finished LVT looks fantastic, but getting the preparation right underneath it was an important part of achieving that result.
From the initial primer and latex screed through to the final LVT installation, the whole downstairs was prepared and fitted with the aim of creating a durable, attractive and professionally finished floor.
